Why spreadsheet recipes and disconnected BOMs slow production

Spreadsheet recipes and hidden changes

Today Formulas sit in scattered spreadsheets or in the head of a senior operator, so changes to one component miss products that share it.

With MG Factory Each sub-assembly has its own BOM in MG Factory, so updating a component updates every finished product that includes it.

Scrap discovered only at stock count

Today Material waste and yield loss go untracked during runs, leaving storekeepers surprised by inventory shortages at month end.

With MG Factory Expected scrap percentages and by-products are built into the BOM, with actual scrap logged on work centre tablets during production.

Guesswork costing on complex products

Today Production costs rely on rough estimates because material usage and machine time for nested assemblies are rarely combined accurately.

With MG Factory Materials, labour and machine time roll up from each routing step and sub-assembly into the planned cost of every batch.

Missing parts halt the shop floor

Today Operators start a work order only to discover that a critical raw material or sub-assembly is out of stock in the warehouse.

With MG Factory Material availability checks show what is missing before releasing an order, and MRP suggests purchase or production in one step.

What you get

Everything you need to build and run multi-level BOMs

Nested sub-assemblies

Structure products into multi-level assemblies, each with its own components, quantities and routing operations.

Routings and work centres

Define the sequence of operations for each BOM, assigning each to a work centre with its planned run time.

Scrap and by-product tracking

Record the expected scrap on each component so the right quantity is reserved, and track the by-products that come out of the run.

Material availability checks

Know what is missing for each production order across warehouses and buy missing parts in one step before work begins.

Work centre tablets

Operators start, pause and finish work orders on a tablet at each work centre, viewing instructions and logging scrap.

Batch costing

Materials, labour and machine time rolled up into the real cost of each batch, comparing planned against actual cost.

How it works

From product design to completed production run

  1. 1

    Build the bill of materials

Add raw materials, components and sub-assemblies with exact quantities, scrap factors and expected by-products.

  2. 2

    Assign routings and work centres

Sequence production operations, assign them to work centres, and define standard setup and run durations.

  3. 3

    Check availability and release orders

Review component stock across warehouses, purchase missing items in one step, and issue the production order.

  4. 4

Execute on tablets and review cost

Operators run jobs on work centre tablets, log actual scrap, and compare actual batch cost against planned targets.

FAQ

Questions we hear most

Can a sub-assembly have its own BOM and routing?

Yes. Sub-assemblies can have their own multi-level BOMs and routings. When you update a sub-assembly BOM, the changes reflect in all finished products that use it, keeping production orders consistent.

Can we import existing BOMs and item recipes from Excel?

Yes. Migrating items, raw materials, supplier lists, opening stock and BOM structures from Excel is part of our standard onboarding before go-live, reviewed with your team.

Is the system available in Arabic and English on shop-floor screens?

Yes. BOM screens, routing definitions, work orders, tablet interfaces and production reports are fully bilingual in Arabic and English, with right-to-left layouts.

How is MG Factory priced, and do work centre tablets require extra user fees?

There are no per-user fees and unlimited users are included. In Kuwait, the Essential package starts at KWD 45 per month per system with a one-time KWD 100 setup fee.

Who owns our production and recipe data, and where does it run?

You own your data completely. You can export records anytime to Excel or CSV, and run the software on our regional cloud or on your factory's own local server.
